Anti virus & firewall software like or dislike
The hardest thing to do is to find a firewall and anti virus software you like, but when you find the one you like it is worth it. If you are like me you tried a few of the anti virus and firewall software out there. When i first started using the net i used Norton the complete protection one that included a firewall and anti virus in the package. I must admit back then i found Norton to be great and i like the features that it had. Some of the features was being able to set what access certain sites could have in your browser, email filtering was good and the virus protection was not bad either. I kept using Norton for a few years till it became recourse intensive. When Norton did a scan my computer slowed down so much that I found it very much useless till the scan completed. After my license expired after i year i looked for something new. I found Bitdefender and gave it a try. I cant remember the version that i used but it is not the one that is out now. Bitdefender has good anti virus protection but i did not find the spam filter all that great. After a while i got tired of all the spam that got through and i decided to dump Bitdefender and try something new. This time i decided to give Trend Micro try. That was the best move I made. After my previous one expired i decided to purchase a Trend Mirco product again. This time i got the Trend Micro Internet Security Pro. I am pleased with the purchase as the expectations i had for it was met. The scanning does not slow down my system like Norton did. The email filter is great as it catches spam easily. If a spam mail gets through you can just add it as spam, and the info is sent to Trend Micro and soon that type of spam email will also be caught. Another great feature that Trend has is a protection against web threats. This feature guards against phishing, pharming and other web threats that could steal personal information. If it does not like a site it blocks it right away and prevents it from opening. Other features it has is Anti-spyware, Protection against rootkits, Proactive intrusion blocking, Two-way firewall, Home network protection, Website authentication, Parental controls, Data theft prevention, Remote file lock, Protection against ID theft, Wireless hotspot verification, Transaction protector and PC performance tuning. The PC performance tuning is a nice feature, what it does is check a hard disk for recoverable space, check the system registry for unused entries and removes them, checks startup programs to identify programs and services that loads when your computer starts and it checks your internet privacy and deletes tracking cookies and clears your browser history. The last one is nice feature as tracking cookies and a large browser history can slow down your web browser. I must say that Trend Mirco offers a very well rounded package in this product and i found it to be great value for money. It all comes down to taste and nobody has the same taste in Anti virus and Firewall software. What may be the perfect solution for some might not be the best solution for others. In the end your either like the software or your dislike it. Lucky for us there is choice and in the end you will hopefully find the solution that is perfect for you.
